Introduction: Today TRUS random biopsies are performed by a recommended 12-core scheme, which is difficult to validate, since the true location of each core within the prostate cannot be tracked adequately in TRUS [1]. With our transperineal BiopSee® 3D-ultrasound method [2] we can precisely place cores within each prostate zone [3]. With this work we propose a method automatically calculating an optimized core placement saturation scheme and calculating a “quality score” for each implant configuration.

RC 416: MR imaging for prostate cancer management: the essential guide for radiologists

Currently prostate cancer is the most frequent cancer in men and it’s incidence is still rising. The disease is associated with high morbidity and high socio-economic impact. The conventional way of establishing the diagnosis based on PSA serum measurements and TRUS biopsies is limited. In addition radical prostatectomy may be overtreatment in a selective patient group, while various other less invasive treatment alternatives have now become available. Imaging can help in detecting the tumour and stratifying the patients. This course will give an insight into the precise role of MR imaging in prostate cancer management.

Abstract: Rhabdomyosarcomas are the most common soft tissue sarcomas in children. Here we present management of an 18-month-old boy with metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma of the bladder/prostate. After radiochemotherapy, high-spatial-resolution 3-Tesla multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed regressive systemic disease but a residual mass at the right seminal vesicle.
