LiverNav

Fusion Imaging for Intraoperative Liver Surgery

The project aims to develop a navigation system that combines the advantages of ultrasound — cost-effectiveness, compactness, speed, repeatability and ease of use — with the spatial representation, localization and navigation capabilities of 3D imaging.

The proposed fusion imaging system brings together:

  • Preoperative CT imaging

  • Digital resection planning

  • Live intraoperative ultrasound

  • Navigation with deformation-aware registration

The aim is to integrate these technologies into a compact, cost-effective, intuitive and practice-oriented system for open liver surgery.

By linking preoperative 3D information with the current intraoperative anatomy, the system is intended to support more precise localization and transfer of the surgical plan during the procedure.

The target at the end of the project is a functional demonstrator for initial clinical testing (TRL 6).
